Huon Bush Retreats best suits people who enjoy nature. Although we are happy to welcome you for one night, many of the guest reviews that we receive highlight that this is a place to spend at least two nights and really relax, explore and experience nature.
Dear Michael and staff
Thank you so much for the time we have spent at Huon Bush Retreats. When I originally booked this place on wotif.com we were just looking for somewhere to stay which was close to Huonville. We were never expecting to find the most beautiful place we have ever stayed in. This place is just awesome. We loved the way the room is designed, right down to the low impact stumps used to hold the cabin up. The fireplace was so cosy, and the outdoor bathtub was out of this world. We even had a visit from an extremely friendly possum with a baby in its pouch. It tried to come inside our cabin with no obvious fear at all.
We have been the Cradle Mountain and seen the luxury expensive lodges there, but they don’t even come close to this place. I love the shower where you can wash and look out at the forest at the same time. I love the minibar which has all organic or local wines. This place really is our idea of a perfect holiday and we most certainly will look forward to coming back here whenever we are in the area.
Thanks for everything, Kim and Tim
A warm genorosity has descended on this place – Congratulations, Carl and Addie
Just a short note to say thanks. Food was beautiful, accommodation was spectacular. Will have to make visit #3 in the near future. Thanks again. PS the possums made the night. Did the short walk (1hr) was lovely.
Recently my husband and I, my sister and brother in law enjoyed a wonderful 2 night stay in the Wallaby Grassland accommodation at Huon Bush Retreats. I just wanted to write and let you know how impressed we were with the facilities and eco friendly environment we experienced. I was particularly pleased with the soap we used. It appeared to be home made and it was amazing. I have never enjoyed a shower so much in years. I was wondering if you could tell me where you sourced the soap and if it available for purchase anywhere. I would appreciate it if you could drop me an email advising if it is available. Also I must complement Michael on the way he looked after us on our arrival. The cabin was the warmest accommodation we had the whole time we were in Tassie which was 15 days. I was thrilled with being able to feed a possum out of my hand. I have never even seen one up close like that, let alone have the creature accepting food from me. I was very impressed! I just thought you might like to receive my positive feed back.
Thanks once again,
We loved it! Joseph proposed to me in the gorgeous bath! I said YES!
How’s life at Mt Misery?
We just wanted to email you guys to thank you for a wonderful few days in ‘Big Tree cabin’. We were sooo impressed. All the attention to detail.
The cabin was so comfortable, and you thought of everything. LOVED the bath and the really comfortable bed, waking up in the morning to that sensational outlook.
It was so perfect that HBR’s was the benchmark for all our other accommodation.
And then of course there was Micheal’s gourmet delights!!!
Thank you for being perfect hosts. It’s a class act at Huon Bush Retreats.
We’ve stuck a couple of attachments to this. They may take quite a while to download if you’re on a dial up. The mushrooms were taken on your forest walk the other is self evident.
All the best
Just a short word of thanks for our recent stay in your Streamside Cabin and the lovely dinners you prepared.
It was our first visit to Tassie and HBR was certainly the highlight. The outside bath was a memorable experience and the whole ambience unforgettable.
One point of discussion which we are curious about and that was, did the Getaway crew stay at HBR and if so was it in the Streamside Cabin?
Many thanks again

Just a quick email to you both. Thank you for allowing Ann and myself the
chance to be able to share the experience of Huon Bush Retreats. We were
really impressed by your property and what you are trying to achieve
environmentally. I wish other properties would follow your lead and adapt
themselves better. It has even given us ideas of what we can improve on in
our own homes. Regards Eileen.
My son and I stayed in Acacia Grove cabin last weekend. We were greeted warmly by Shiraz and we felt very peaceful. The purpose of our visit was our friend’s funeral. The cabin was a perfect place of quiet reflection. We were au fait with the workings of bush toilets and wood heaters, so we felt at home. It was reminiscent of my childhood camping holidays. Drawing the curtains and evicting a cold lizard to under the house, under a rock, made for an even greater amount of privacy. We slept in until nine o’clock. Such was the silence. This was an unprecedented occurrence for us. I look forward to when I can bring our 4 member family to stay for a week or more. Thank you to Paul and Michael. Thank you for having the vision to create such a haven. We wish you the best for the future. Janet and family.

Thank you for providing such a unique and natural place to stay. We’d like to have stayed for a week not a night!!
The first visitor last night was a pademelon and then two friendly possums that ate out of the kid’s hands – fantastic!
I did have that night time bath and it was excellent! I even had a possum sit near the end to keep me company -probably heard we had an apple!!
So thanks again for a wonderful night in the bush – the Tall Trees walk was magical too.

Many thanks for a very special night and morning. We did the 30 minute hike this morning, very cool. It’s like green velvet covering everything!
You have a very special place of Tasmania here, keep up the great work you’re doing and I’ll be sure to spread the word to others so they can experience this beautiful place as well.
Thanks again!! M and M. South Australia
PS If you’re ever in Adelaide and wanna catch up for a beer, hook up with us!
PPS Sorry we broke your lighter…
We had an amazing time – walking, drawing, photography and a few games of UNO. This has been a real treat and highlight to our Tasmanian experience. We thank you kindly and hope to be back again soon.
From a very relaxed P and R
PS As we sadly have to leave Tassie we have left some supplies left over which may hopefully be of some use.
