Green Tea Certification

The annual assessment of Huon Bush Retreats is undertaken against Green Globe Lite Health Check Earthcheck benchmarking indicators developed for Green Globe. They have been selected to track performance in key areas of environmental and social performance impact. The outcomes which are presented in this report are used by Earthcheck to evaluate whether the operation has reached the standards necessary to pass the initial benchmarking requirements.

Green Tea Certificaton summary

The certificatin document states,
" Congratulations, Huon Bush Retreats has passed the requirements to be recognised as a Green Globe Lite Operator. 

From the benchmarking data provided, 3 indicator(s), Energy Used (MJ / Guest Night),Potable Water Consumption (kL / Guest Night),Waste Sent to Landfill (m3 / Guest Night), are at or above the Best Practice level, which is an achievement to be highly commended.

" Improvements in all the Earthcheck indicators will not only help the environment, but can also help reduce operational costs. Due to the positive commitment that Huon Bush Retreats has demonstrated to the environment, the assessors are confident that they can maintain or improve performance, where appropriate and practical, in all indicators. "

Additionally, we are carbon positive


Note that onsite carbon absorption is not accounted for in the Green TEA calculations. Out calculations indicate that our protected forest absorbs approximately 1729 tonnes CO2 per year. This gives us an overall carbon balance of 1392 tonnes positive per year.
